Blainville (Québec), May 4, 2015.– After winning nine of fourteen races in the 2014 Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) season, the Audette Racing Team will return to the series with a partial programme this season. Mathieu Audette will be at the wheel of the Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX, his brother Rémy will drive the Honda Civic Si and their father, François Audette, will make his return to competition with a brand new Porsche Cayman S !
Having not competed in road racing since 1993, François Audette retook the wheel last year at the Circuit Mont-Tremblant for a bit of fun in the Fall Classic. Driving his oldest son Mathieu’s RSX, he qualified second in his category, giving him a renewed taste for competition. ” I was once again bitten by the bug last year and from that grew the idea of preparing a Porsche Cayman S to contest the CTCC ” explains François Audette who, at age 68, is ready to start the season on May 16th in Ontario. ” I’ll take it race by race. I recently tested the car at the Circuit ICAR in Mirabel and I needed to get a feel for things once again, find my rhythm, etc. In short, I had to become one with the car, which is brand new but very powerful ” confides François Audette. ” I’m very eager to be back at Mosport, a track I adore, to contest my first official race in more than twenty years ! ” he adds.
The Audette Racing Team’s Porsche Cayman S will don the number 37. It will have a 3.4 litre engine, producing 300hp and, like Mathieu and Rémy Audette’s cars, will wear the Dimensions Doors colours as well as other partners affiliated with the Quebec company and with his racing programme.
François Audette has multiple goals heading into this new season : ” Most importantly, I want to finish my races, ideally in the top 10 in Super Touring class. I have ambitions of finishing between 5th and 10th in the championship, but definitely without getting myself into any trouble – I really want to contest these races without any incidents. When we enjoy ourselves we get good results ! ” he shares.
The Audette Racing Team is entering two cars into the first two races of the season on May 16th and 17th at the Mosport track (Canadian Tire Motorsport Park) located just east of Toronto. In addition to the Porsche Cayman S driven by François Audette, Mathieu will compete in his #12 Acura RSX. Rémy Audette will skip this first outing.
” The last time I started the season at Mosport was in 2013, with a perfect weekend, winning both races ” indicated Mathieu Audette, who is confidently kicking off the 2015 season : ” our Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX has always been fast at this track. I’m eyeing another victory, even though I only just recently got my hands on the car for a small test session at the Circuit ICAR ” specifies Mathieu Audette, who will contest a partial CTCC season, also in the Super Touring class.
Seven doubleheaders make up the 2015 CTCC calendar, four in Ontario and three in Quebec.
The Audette Racing Team benefits from the support of Dimensions Doors, Novatech, Soniplastics, Verre Select, OPM, Omnitech, Extrucan, Robover, Milette Portes, Mec-Inov, Boulanger et Amusements Spectaculaires.
