4 podiums in the first races of 2014

Rémy Audette Kicks Off His Season With Two Victories !

Boisbriand (Québec), May 19, 2014.– This past weekend, the Audette Racing contested the first two rounds of the 2014 Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, in Ontario. At a track where the team’s two drivers shine, Rémy Audette drove his Dimensions Doors/Novatech Honda Civic Si to victory in both of the weekend’s races, while his older brother Mathieu also climbed onto to podium with his Acura RSX both times, finishing third on Saturday and second on Sunday.

We could not have dreamt of a better way to start the season for the Audette Racing Team, with Rémy Audette claiming both pole positions and victories during the first of seven doubleheaders of the 2014 CTCC season. ” It’s really an amazing weekend for the entire team. We worked hard during the off-season and we have reaped the rewards of those efforts ” explains Rémy Audette, obviously extremely happy to start the year off with a perfect record.

Qualifying in pole position on Saturday, Rémy Audette led every lap of the first race, which took place late in the afternoon. ” The 2013 champion was on my heels at one point and, with only a few laps to go, there was a caution. I had just lapped two cars, which meant that when the race started up again, those two cars separated the second placed car from me, which allowed me to attack all the way to the finish line and gave me a good lead ” explained Rémy.

During qualifying, oil on the track caused Mathieu Audette to have a small accident, which prevented him from completing even a single timed lap and forced him to start the first race in last place. He had a magnificent race, and eventually finished in third spot. The following day, qualifying in second place only two-tenths of a second behind his younger brother, Mathieu showed just how hungry he is for victory.

The duel between the two Audette Racing drivers held true to form. ” Twice he tried to overtake me but it didn’t work ” recalls Rémy, with a big smile ! At the end, Rémy Audette won by 1.3 seconds. ” We both finished the race with a small oil leak in the transmission. It was dripping a little bit on the front left tire but it was the same situation for both cars ” explains Mathieu Audette, ” we were both going through the same thing so we decided that we wouldn’t take any unnecessary risks but it was still a really nice race ” he adds.

Rémy noted at the finish line that since the Grand Prix ICAR de Mirabel in July of 2013, either he or Mathieu has won all of the Canadian Touring Car races in which they’ve participated. They head into the next two races, on the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, with confidence : ” we want to win in front of all of our supporters in Montréal ! This past weekend at Mosport is a good omen and it kicks off a great season ahead ” concludes Rémy Audette.

The next outing will take place in three weeks as part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada. Qualifications will take place on Friday followed by both races on Saturday, June 7th. The first will be presented in late morning, between the F1 free practice and qualifying, with the second race scheduled for 4:30pm.
