GP of Canada 2013 Review

Boisbriand (Québec), June 9, 2013.– Quebec driver Rémy Audette, of Audette Racing, contested no less than four races held as part of this weekend’s Grand Prix du Canada. Registered in the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) with his Dimensions Doors/Novatech Honda Civic Si as well as in the Formula Tour 1600, Audette experienced all sorts of emotions before finishing with final positions of sixth (CTCC) and seventh (FT1600), but not without the opportunity to lead the pack in CTCC.

Rémy Audette and the entire Audette Racing team were anxious to finally contest their first CTCC race weekend in their new Honda Civic Si.  A car cordially baptised as “Béatrice” by members of the team, which showed a lot of potential during qualifying, enabled Rémy to start in the first line for Saturday’s race.  After fighting for the lead with the top six cars during the first few laps, he eventually finished in sixth spot. ” The car was super competitive and I only missed out on pole position by two tenths of a second.  I was really looking forward to Saturday’s race.  We can’t forget that it was the very first time racing the Dimensions Dorrs/Novatech Honda Civic Si and under rainy skies, I led a few laps and finished in the top 6.  It really is a great result ” explained Rémy Audette.

Sunday, on a dry track, Rémy started in fifth place. After an excellent start, another good result was in his sights when an injector line got disconnected, forcing him to abandon the race. ” It’s a shame because we were doing great and I’m sure that we would’ve been able to earn another good result in this race. At the same time, we’re coming away from the weekend with a good record, the car is super competitive, and it’s a good omen for the future ” added the driver.

Rémy Audette was also registered for the Formula Tour 1600 in a new Ford-powered Quebec-built CMV. Qualifying in fifth, the former American F2000 champion had a good start but his race ended shortly before the mid-way point as a result of a contact. ” It was going well and I was in a battle with the American driver Tristan DeGrand when we found ourselves amongst a pack of latecomers. He braked earlier than expected, which surprised me, and I had to swerve to avoid him. Seeing as it was wet, I slid and just as he was closing on the inside of a turn, I hit him ” indicated Rémy in regards to the incident that forced both drivers to retire early.

Repaired in time for Sunday’s race, the CMV allowed Rémy Audette to experience one of the best comebacks of the race, climbing from a starting position of sixteenth spot to a finishing spot of seventh in only twenty minutes of competition. ” It’s a big racing weekend with four events to contest, and a total of seven different track times including practice and qualifying. I’m coming away with a lot of positives and it was a great opportunity to promote our sponsors ” concludes Rémy.
